1. Preparation

Before starting, ensure the area is clear and the studs or framing are properly in place. Measure the area and cut the drywall sheets to fit the dimensions of the wall or ceiling.

Tools you’ll need: Measuring tape, utility knife, drywall saw, drill, screws, and a drywall lift (for ceilings).

2. Hanging the Drywall

Start by hanging the drywall horizontally or vertically, depending on your space and the layout. Secure each sheet to the studs using drywall screws, making sure the edges of each sheet meet tightly without gaps.

Tip: Leave a small gap (about 1/8 inch) between the drywall and the floor to prevent moisture damage.

3. Taping and Mudding

After the drywall is secured, the next step is to cover the seams with drywall tape and joint compound (often called "mud"). Apply the first coat of mud to the seams, then press drywall tape into the wet compound.
